Is your deposit protected by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (it should be). Find out which one it is in, and ask that scheme about the current process.
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
    • When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
    • "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

  • Thank you for your reply I spoke to DPS yesterday - they said request the deposit back and after 14 days if the letting agent didn’t agree I would need to fill a form and have it signed by a solicitor or Judge which maybe fairly difficult given the current circumstances.

  • Just telling the agent that you’ve been in contact with the deposit scheme and that they have 14 days to return your deposit before you proceed to the next stage, may be enough to persuade them.  I presume you’ve returned the keys?  Did you take photos of the condition of the property as you left?
