I booked a flight with Ryanair to Dublin going out on 18th April and coming back on 20th. I've just had an email tonight to say that my return flight has been cancelled and that I can apply for a refund. Will I get a refund for the outward flight also, or do I need to wait to see if that also gets cancelled? I have tried to search for the answer online but can't find this scenario, thanks

Yes.  As long as the two flights are under the same booking you will be refunded for both.  When you go to the Ryanair refund form you can select "I wish to apply for a refund for ALL customers and for ALL flights booked on this flight reservation"

    That's really helpful, thank you

I have a similar situation - both flights booked with Ryanair on same account but as separate bookings - going out May 13th back June 24th - Ryanair have already said they expect to cancel the May flight - if they do can I also claim the return flight back?

Because they are on separate bookings, then no you aren't entitled to a refund on the return flight. You might be bale to persuade Ryanair to refund it, but it would be down to their goodwill.
