    >>I didn't think you could get a chargeback from a company in administration? Or is it just not guaranteed? I'm really worried this is a bit of a dodgy company to be honest.<<

Companies in administration is one of the most common causes of chargebacks as you quoted in your OP
Flybe. These cause a lot of work when they are big companies. Due to Banks & Visa/Mastercard wanting to get a unified way of dealing with them. So that usually ties up a couple of weeks.
It makes no difference to your chargeback. There is actually less chance of them rejecting a chargeback as they are no longer trading. :)

Chargeback will not be for the full amount. You can only claim for what you have not got.
S75, Well that will be down to how Virgin view it. It might come down to consequential loss (S75), due to having to pay more to get the treatment finished.

So you could end up with a chargeback for part not received &
consequential loss for the extra cost.

Strictly speaking you can actually can go in for full chargeback by using rc53 'service not as described' and if you upload decent enough paperwork and evidence chances are that the merchants payment provider wont dare take it to prearb.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna try and get as much back as I can and kick up a fuss if it's impacted by the time it's taken to get this moving.
Got to ring a certain number on Monday and see what they say, hopefully this will get moving now.
  • I got there in the end, if anyone is interested, I got the section 75 claim through and got the full amount. There was more drama inbetween involving the retainers themselves (have stopped treatment partway through, going to review our options when we can, with Covid etc.) but today we noticed that the whole amount has came back into the account. Waiting on official correspondence but no doubt it's in the post. Very little fighting and Virgin gave us £70 for waiting, they didn't really have an explanation in the end but their customer service was fantastic from the point we got the claim actually logged and in the system.

Thanks everyone for your help!! The winning email address in the end seems to be customerrelations@virginmoney.com but they don't actually reply, they send letters instead.
