Supply teachers - furlough deal!!

"If you had a long-term contract, please contact your end-client as soon as possible and ask them to confirm they will continue to pay in line with this guidance, even if they have already terminated your assignment.  If they advise you otherwise, we suggest you refer them to the guidance and ask them to clarify why they are acting against government advice.

For those that did not have confirmed work, we continue to seek clarity on whether the Job Retention Scheme is suitable for contractors.

However, we already know that as things stand we will only be able to pay 80% of the national minimum wage, rather than 80% of your total earnings.  This is due to the national minimum wage plus bonus pay structure that umbrella companies have to operate to allow the flexibility to cater for different assignment rates."

So, who would want to continue to be a PAYE Supply teacher?

80% of minimum wage sounds better than 80% of nothing, so not too bad really (especially if it's full time hours).
That's around £1000 a month, which should cover most people's bills (and there's help out there for those who won't be able to make their commitments).

Can you address the anomaly of county councils who work in partnership with recruitment agencies ? Those supply teachers with a contract with the recruitment agency and paid by the agency can be furloughed.  Those with a contract with the recruitment agency but paid by the council for the sole administrative purpose of still opting to have part of salary put into pension scheme at the moment are NOT being furloughed and told public sector orgs cannot furlough.  These supply teachers are falling between 2 stools and there is utter confusion,
