Does anyone have any recommendations for a Global Equity Fund please. I have more than enough exposure in the UK and am looking for a truly global fund as I keep reading that’s a good place to park some funds for a ten year timeframe. It would be good if it’s a fund I can obtain on iWeb as that’s the platform I am currently using.

I already have Vanguard 60/40 and 80/20 plus Vanguard FTSE All-share Acc and Legal and General Multi Index 6 and 7. Looking for a different provider to Vanguard if possible as I’ve got close to 85k with them.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,
there is no limit to what you can have in funds, I think you are thinking of the FSCS 85k compensation limit for banks and building societies.

I do not think that is true . The Vanguard platform is covered for £85K and each fund house is covered for £85K as well .
Anyway more relevant is that Vanguard and similar companies are not banks , who take risks lending out money , and the chances of them going bust are remote
If things were so bad that Vanguard went under , there would probably be no government to pay you compensation and you would probably be too busy protecting your house from gangs of looters, to worry about money.

To be truly global you need to obtain exposure outside of the developed markets.

If you want 100% equities then consider HSBC FTSE All World which includes emerging markets alternatively for less volatility their Global Strategy multi asset fund series. Both on iWeb and neither have UK equity bias.
