Ryanair flight wasn't cancelled - still get refund or voucher?

Hi all,

I was due to fly to Malta on 15th March via Ryanair for a 5 day holiday, but on 13th March Malta imposed a quarantine of 14 days for all new arrivals. Obviously I couldn't go because of this.

Ryanair were offering changes of flights but because I'd checked in already, I couldn't amend the flight and I wasn't able to get through to anyone on the phone. I actually went to the airport and spoke to someone at the desk who un-checked me, but even after this I wasn't able to amend the flight online.

I tried making a claim on my travel insurance but I haven't even been able to speak to anyone.

Would it be possible for me to get a refund via my credit card, or do I need to chalk it up as a loss?

Thanks!

credit card refund won't work as the flight still operated. whether your insurance will cover will depend on the policy

Doubt you will get anything from Ryanair. There service is taking you from point A to Malta. That service was available and you choose not to take it due the the situation is Malta. Which is understandable. Lost money.

Thanks, that's what I thought, sadly.

The only difference is that I tried to change the flights but the website wasn't functioning.

I think I'll try Ryanair again and see whether I can talk them into letting me book an alternative flight, at least...I'll report back!
