Thanks everyone for your help. It was the transformer so I did as suggested and changed all four light fittings to GU10s. The fittings and junction box cost me £6.95 and I reused some old bulbs I had. I've just ordered some LED bulbs which should arrive this week. All in all an easy and cheap solution. Thanks again1
