Help & Advice Needed :(

Hello everyone, hope everyone is keeping safe and well, this maybe a bit of a long story but I would really appreciate some help / advice as I am totally lost right now.
Bit about me, am currently single, 35yo, and living at parents. In October 2019 I left Pets at Home after nearly 4 years as they had a policy of not giving full time contracts out, so I took a shot in the dark and got a job full time at NHS 111 in November 2019 (before all this corona virus stuff kicked off) sadly I found it immensely stressful and my mental health deteriorated rapidly (I have long term conditions with Depression, GAD & PTSD). I decided to leave after being signed off by the doctors in January, Since then I have been looking for jobs, ideally full-time because I am looking to have enough money to move out my parents place.
Then came the corona virus :'( I had a few interviews set up which where cancelled, not sure if they will ever happen, and a lot of the jobs have dried up, but now my main problem is that I live with my parents, both in late 60's, both with underlaying health conditions, they been advised to quarantine themselves for 12 weeks, so I am very concerned about brining the virus in and possibly infecting them, I have nowhere else to move out too and certainly cant afford my own place, so I have been in quarantine also, but I really don't know what to do for the best, my mind is racing all the time, and my anxiety is unmanageable most of the time, I just really don't know what to do.

Should I be staying quarantined with my parents for 12 weeks? How am I gonna get a job after been unemployed so long? what am I gonna do about my own money?

Please help, Please be kind.

You can't live anywhere else and you don't want to put your parents at risk. In these circumstances, you need to look at universal credit.

I'd say keep your parents safe and well done to you for doing so.

Work through some of the many online resources to help with anxiety and depression such as CBT and mindfullness.

Try and get some sort of daily routine going even though that is within the house. Try and do some sort of regular exercise even just the simple stuff like following PE with Joe wicks every morning.

Stay safe, stay healthy, the world will still be there for you in 12 weeks time.

Hermann has made some excellent suggestions. Your anxiety understandably so is high at the moment, to be honest I’d imagine half of the populations is right now too.

Use this time to get some focus and make some positives in your life again. There are tons of free distance learning courses that can be done at the moment, a good way to keep busy and show something productive on your CV. Make time for some exercise everyday! It will benefit you massively in the long run honestly.

Please try one of the benefit entitlement calculators such as entitled too or turn2us, they will give you an idea of any financial assistance you might be entitled to in the mean time. If I remember correctly that the job centre have turned off all job seeking requirements for the next 3 months so in which case you can safely quarantine with your parents whilst having a small amount of money coming in.

It is overwhelming right now but it will get better!

  • It depends what kind of work you're looking for, but lots of office based jobs are recruiting and on boarding remotely at the moment.
