NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FURLOUGH

I started working for my current employer on 3 Feb 2020, in a temp capacity through an agency. The company asked me to stay on, which I accepted and began working for them direct on 9 March 2020. They have had to lay most of us off work and have wrote to us to say we would be Furloughed and receive 80% of our usual salary. I have now heard from them to say they are not able to Furlough me as I was not employed by them on 28 Feb 2020. I am still employed by them and they want me to go back as soon as they are able to trade again - surely the Government need to re-look at this, as although their rescue packages sound great, there are huge holes in them that people like myself are slipping through.

there are huge holes in them that people like myself are slipping through. That is correct. The scheme is the best they could come up with in the time, but the rules are clear.
You are best to start claiming benefits if you can. Agency workers have been badly hit by this, and it wouldn't surprise me if this area will be looked at again after the crisis. Not much help in the short term, so use the benefits system.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

I realise the scheme is to protect jobs, that is why I made the point the company do want to keep me as an employee0

They can't protect every job. They have to put a cut off somewhere as they are aware that if they did not a lot of business would have an influx of new employees.

sadly agency people are being hit hard, seems unfair considering they pay tax through PAYE yet self employed often reduce their national insurance payments by switching to dividends yet are being bailed outAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......1
