Working tax credit vs. UC for self employed before SEISS

Hello
Just wanted some advice as I am unsure whether to stay on Working Tax Credits or move to UC to get through time before the SEISS payments in June. UC I can get rent paid, but WTC will carry on after I start work again and are easier to manage... and will SEISS payments affect UC payments ? Seems I would get about £50 a week for either UC or WTC.
Any advice welcome its difficult to weigh it all up.
Thanks

Only you can decide this.
However bear in mind that you lose the right to Transitional Protection if you claim UC. Check what this means for you particularly when the minimum income floor is reinstated.
It is possible that you are better off long term on tax credits but that depends on individual circumstances.
Currently it looks likely SEISS payment will reduce or end your UC claim in the month it is paid, potentially that could change but seems unlikely.1 -
I've been doing my own research for UC as never claimed anything before ( I only state to point out I'm new to all of this ), but all advice I have seen seems to be avoid being on UC if you are on a different benefit scheme. I'd say if you expect to be receiving similar amounts stay where you are and don't rock the boat, SEISS will nullify your UC payments anyway once it comes through,1

I think it's a hard one to decide. As far as I understand it, a lump sum like the grant can impact one or at most two months' UC. The way tax credits work is on an annual basis, and then you find yourself potentially repaying overpaid credits.1

But getting rent paid would be the obvious advantage ??Under_the_Radar_2 said:I've been doing my own research for UC as never claimed anything before ( I only state to point out I'm new to all of this ), but all advice I have seen seems to be avoid being on UC if you are on a different benefit scheme.
