Hi I have sent my c c provider a letter outlining my current financial situation and made an offer of a fixed amount each month. They have written back stating they may pass this onto a debt collection agency. I suffer with PTSD and other whuch I have informed of these conditions. Can they do this? Other providers have accepted the offer. TIA

Yes, they can. If the debt is sold or passed on, you can make your offer to the new entity.0

The decision of your cc issuer to decline your payment plan should mean that the relationship between yourself and your creditor has irreconcilably broken down. I recommend you still set up the monthly Standing Order in accordance with your [written] offer. Your creditor will probably default the account, whilst passing the account on to a DCA for collection. A default is good news as it means interest on the account will be frozen.Mags1953 said:...I have sent my c c provider a letter outlining my current financial situation and made an offer of a fixed amount each month. The main thing is they said "MAY"
So as above get the payment in place. Odds on they may even have frozen interest as well. Miss any payments and odds on it will go to a debt agency.Life in the slow lane0 -
Start making your payments now whether they accept or refuse. They cannot ignore them take it from there0

It will be a standard response letter you have received back, which under the terms of the consumer credit act must point out the potential consequences of not making the contracted repayment, this could include defaulting the account, passing your account to a debt collector, or taking action through the courts to recover the money, just standard stuff they must advise you of.
It does not mean any or all of these actions will be taken, it just points out what they could do, they will most likely accept your plan, and after 6 months or so, transfer the account to someone like Moorcroft to manage for them, that is how the system works.
