UPVC door won't open

I have a UPVC door fitted by Everest some 15 years ago that will not open. The key turns about 180 degrees and no further so it seems like the mechanism is corroded inside. But as I cannot open the door how can I get to the locking mechanism to ease it?
Thanks in anticipation

Try spraying some WD40 into the lock so the key turns fully ,might be able to open it then0

How about removing the lock barrel (assuming its a eurolock), then seeing what happens.
Does it do the same from both sides? (i.e. inside and outside). If it does, then i suspect you need a UPVC door fitter...

The OP said they cannot open the door so they will not be able to get to the door barrel as the barrel has a screw which will need to be accessed when/if the door is opened.Alias_Omega said:How about removing the lock barrel (assuming its a eurolock), then seeing what happens.

Locksmith to drill out the old lock and replace the entire mechanism. WD40 should definitely be the first move. I had a lock which was jamming. I phoned a local locksmith and they said to try WD40, that was a few years ago and I've had no problem with it since.

Pull the handle up hard then try the key while the handle is still up. If that works you need to adjust the fit of the door at the hinges.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Er, don't pull too hard.My mate did and he snapped the multi-point locking mechanism so he was left with a handle that flapped up and down which needed a locksmith.0

How do you get out?0

Make sure first of all that the weight of the door over time has not pulled the door out of alignment. It's a five minute job with an Allen key and a spirit level to adjust the hinges if this is the case and the lock should operate normally again when complete.Procedure can be found on YouTube.EDIT;You'll have to get the door open first of course...-1
