    It's not 100% equities.
For all intents and purposes, a fund that is 98.21% equities is considered 100% equities as the difference is just trading cash.

Bowlhead99 - I think my money manager is doing an OK job. The performance of the fund has been roughly inline with the FTSE100.

I would say that shows they are doing a terrible job !
Compare the FTSE 100 with a global index stock like HMWO.

But HMWO is a 100% global equities fund whereas his money manager's fund is not 100% equities.

How can you judge that they are doing a terrible job when they deliver close to the performance of the FTSE 100 with lower volatility and are presumably not trying to match HMWO because they are not a 100% equities fund?

He is looking to take greater risk with a separate portion of his portfolio which is why he is now looking at 100% equity trackers (albeit, the FTSE100 is not a good place to start).

For clarification, I was referring to the thread objective which was a FTSE100 tracker.  That would be considered 100% equity.   And it would also cover the later mentioned global tracker (VWRL)  which would also be considered 100% equity.

Before you think about putting money into the stock or bond markets make sure you have sufficient in your cash emergency fund. That's basic to any financial plan at any time, but maybe people will understand why its important given today's circumstances.
