So long as your 'main' employer is happy for you to do additional work (check your contract), there's nothing in the guidance to prevent you from having or increasing a separate separate source of income from another job.
  • Can I get some help please, I am currently employed and earn £63256.00 a year whereby I get paid every 28 days. I intend to retire next year. Last year a July 2020 I started my own thing and registered as self employed, however I owing earned 7500.00 after paying out all my expenditures I made a profit of £3200.00. I currently have a tax code of 1260L, married and pay altogether 15% into my employers pension fund.
How much tax will I pay and when?

You need to complete your Self Assessment return to get the actual figure but all things being equal expect to pay in the region of £1.3k.

This will need to be paid by 31 January 2022.

If you file your return by 30 December you may be able to have the tax collected via your 2022:23 tax code but some people prefer to keep things as simple as possible and just pay it direct to HMRC in January.
  • If your main employer has given you consent you should be fine.
