Refund of credit balance

in Credit cards
I have Mastercard with Creation Finance. Due to Jet2 refunds, I am in credit by £3k. I phoned and asked or the credit balance to be transferred to my Halifax current account, from where I make the monthly payments by debit card. I pointed out to Creation that I had recently received a new Halifax bank debit card and that the last 2 digits of the 16 numbers on the card had changed from 35 to 43. My March payment was by the new "43" card, but previous payments had been by the old "35" card. He is making 2 refund payments, but knowing Creation Finance Customer Service, I can foresee problems. They are not good at the best of times, let alone during this Crisis. Has anyone experienced this? Talk about timing. I get a new card slap bang in the middle of the Corona virus!! TIA.

I think you have overcomplicated this. If the new card was simply a replacement for the original then it would have been fine to have refunded the whole amount to the new card number.
Also most credit card companies will refund positive balances by BACS transfer using just the bank account number and sort code. No need to involve any debit card details at all.1 -
The card number doesn't impact their transferring money to your current account.
You account number hasn't changed.1 -
Thanks. I asked him to refund the whole amount by BACS transfer and he said as I paid by debit card and not direct debit, he had to return the money back to the "same source of payment".0

Then it would have been fine to just give them your latest debit card number and not mention the old card details.1

Yes, on reflection, I should have kept quiet about the old card!
Out of interest, do credit card companies charge you a handling fee for withdrawing cash via an atm when you are in credit? They obviously can't charge you monthly interest as there is no debit balance to charge interest on.0 -
Yes, they do.0

Old cards can still take credits. As they not authorised. Just the same as any recurring transactions can still debit the account.Life in the slow lane1 -
I received an email on 24th March 2020 to say they would refund me £36.52 as I had cancelled my account but Talk Talk had still taken money from my account. They said it would be back in my account in 10 working days but I have still not received it. What can I do to get this money back?

You just need to wait for it to appear in your account. Nothing more than that.0
