Whatsapp has a problem and needs to be installed again

Hi,
I'm looking for some troubleshooting ideas. I sideloaded WhatsApp to a Hudl tablet more than a year ago but it has recently failed to open. I got an error "whatsapp has stopped". I have cleared the cache, uninstalled, downloaded a new apk direct from WhatsApp.com and installed, but it is still not working.
Now I get the error "Whatsapp has a problem and needs to be installed again" - redoing the install didn't help
The next step appears to be a full reset of the device which I am trying to avoid as the tablet is being used a less techie family member on the other side of the world 😃
Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks

WhatsApp withdrew support for a load of earlier versions of android a while back.

The Hudl has not been receiving updates for some time now as Tesco no longer support it.

The Hudl is running Android v5.x and Whatapp supports Android running OS 4.0.3+ so how would this impact the running of the app?

You didn't make that clear in your original post.

Sorry for offering some advice .

Maybe buy a decent supported device

    I won't post further

Have you tried downloading WhatsApp from another site? Maybe the app version you are downloading from the official site is not compatible for your tablet. First download and install WhatsApp from another site if your problem is still not solved then try to install this GB Whatsapp an alternative apk file of Whatsapp.

Note: We only provide limited support to tablet users and don't support Wi-Fi only devices at this time.

I'm guessing that after 6 months or more the OP has resolved their problem.... :
Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
