Im deaf and use a Sarabec room loop system. I had this connected to my old LG tv using a Toshlink digital optical connection.
I’ve bought a new Toshiba tv, basic model, and connected my Tosh connector to the Sarabec box but there’s a snag. The sound output can only be set to either TV or s/pdif not both at the same time as I did with the LG. The Toshiba tv has Bluetooth but I’m unsure how I could use this to overcome the problem.
In the audio settings of the tv there’s reference to headphone output and choices possible that’s line out. I haven’t attempted this but fear that would also cut off the tv speakers? Could the headphone line out be used to the Sarabec box possibly instead of the Tosh link?
Any suggestions please?
Thanks

If the speakers are disconnected when something is plugged into the socket they will come back when its unplugged. I suspect very few items are Toslink only, most would have analogue alternatives. The tv might have other analogue outputs or it may be possible to use a scart adaptor without affecting the tv sound output if it has a scart output.Sarabec appear to still be working, try contacting them on Monday.1
