New Trend in buying goods on EBay from the Far East
You are then left with the only option of phoning EBay but that number has been suspended because of the pandemic.
Has anyone else spotted this trend?

Nope, everything I have ever bought has shown up correctly in purchase lists.
Your scenario, assuming I have understood your post correctly, might just work if you managed to buy as a guest buyer without logging in.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Soolin, I probably haven't made it clear who is 'OUT OF POCKET' when this happens on EBay. The BUYER has to be logged in to their EBay Account to Buy products. Its the BUYER who loses out unless they check Visa Card claims against their EBay Purchases Account. If there is no record of the Purchase listed on EBay then the Buyer has no means to contact EBay to resolve the problem.
In this scenario the Buyer doesn't get the goods they have paid for but Sellor claims the Funds for the Sale that is not on the Buyers list of EBay Purchases.
I hope this makes for an easier understanding of the scenario but get back to me if I can further clarify anything.0 -
The answer is no.
Everything I buy through ebay shows on my purchased list.
I would suggest this is a local error (ie only affecting you).0 -

Question- What exactly is no the answer to?
You state 'Everything I buy through eBay shows on my purchase list.'
My Response -Having been an EBay Buyer for many years I can confirm that up until recently everything I bought also showed on my purchase list BUT that is not the case now!
You state 'I would suggest this is a local error(ie only affecting you).
My Response- EBay is NOT a local Sales platform and that is why I am alerting people to what may be a Scam or a serious system glitch.
I await your response.

I will respond, although I can add nothing to my earlier post.
If you buy as a guest on eBay then there is no account to log the sale against although if you have issues you do still have full PayPal protection so no one is out of pocket. I’m not even sure though if, after all the recent changes, buying as a guest is still possible, I certainly haven’t seen any of my buyers doing it for months now.
however if you are properly logged in then assuming you, as the account holder hasn’t changed your settings to hide purchases, then all purchases will show on your purchase list.
So , in your scenario, you are either buying without being logged in, or there is a user error and you have hidden or deleted some of your purchases. If it is the latter then go through your settings and Undelete or Unhide them.
no one is out of pocket as full PayPal protection applies as long as you logged in and paid properly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Did you go through Paypal and is there a record on Paypal of the purchases?
Assuming you didn't go through as a guest as soolin says, if there's no record on ebay then either someone has access to your ebay account and they are hiding all purchase orders (or you've done it by accident) or there is a glitch with showing purchases, which may only affect specific accounts.
I assume you're getting the items you have bought and no other items are showing up on your credit card/bank account that you haven't bought?0 -
Only time an item was not in my purchase history was after a dispute was opened. Gets moved then. Jump through a few
pages and its there though.
Never bought as a guest, so everything shows up.

I would just say that the ebay website is not the easiest to navigate if you don't use it frequently. And if you're forced into the horrid new design some things are just missing that used to show up on the old design.1
