Appologies if this is the wrong section, but I couldnt find one suitable to gift cards.
Basically I have been given a £500 voucher from my employer as a long service award, and I have to go on the vouchershopexchange web site https://www.vouchershopexchange.co.uk/ and type in the cheque number on the voucher and validation code and it gives me a list of retailers to choose from, and in this case I chose Asda. But when I chose Asda it says the vouchershopexchange website is currently only accepting to top up already registered gift cards and type in the gift card number, but I dont have an Asda gift card. Can I still buy one in store for this purpous , or does a special one need to be sent to me? I did ask all this to vouchershopexchange, but they havent replied, I am stuck in limbo. I am assuming they used to let you register it all and send you a gift card with the money on, but I dont know whats changed.
Thanks in advance.

If its anything like my scheme, ive been given notification they have temp withdrawn sending out new physical gift cards due to the virus..........
- We have temporarily removed some ‘in-store only’ discounts as certain venues and retailers have been asked to close to the public, and we don’t encourage purchasing Instant Vouchers that you can’t redeem right away.
- We have had to temporarily remove the ability to order new Reloadable Cards - other than a few essentials that are vital to support you over this period. Please note, top-ups and Auto Top-ups of Reloadable Cards that you already have are unaffected, and for the majority of retailers we will have an Instant Voucher for you to take advantage of instead.

The thing is they are saying I can top up an existing card but I have never had an Asda gift card, all the retailers are returning the same answer, Argos, Tesco, etc.
I was assuming I could buy my own gift card in store and take it home to top it up on the vouchershopexchange web site with the voucher that way, am I right?
How else can I get around this? It seems the voucher has to be done through vouchershopexchange.com0 -
Yes, buy a gift card with £5 on it and try to top it up.ifit doesn't work nothing lost as you still have you're fiver1

If something goes wrong will I ruin my voucher in some way? I'm not so concerned about the fiver, its the £500 voucher I'm worried about when I got on the vouchershopexchange website.0 -
I don think so, you should just use the card number to add to it, that's what you do in store, they don't ask detail just top it up.1

Update on this situation is after a long nightmare, too long a story to put here, but vouchershopexchange ended up giving me the £500 in 5 denominations of £100 because ASDA only accepts evouchers of up to £100 so vouchershopexchange had to bend their rules and present me with 5 amounts of £100.
But the twists kept coming. I went to ASDA with my 5 lots of £100 as evouchers or otherwise known as ecodes, but these ecode vouchers presented their own problem because I had them in blocks of £100 the smart tv was £329 and when the customer service woman tryed to scan the fourth voucher for the £29 it wouldnt work. So this caused a bit of confusion for a while as the customer service woman has never used evouchers before so didnt know what to do with this dilemma. Then I came up with the idea why dont we put the last 2 blocks of £100 onto a gift card and then it would leave £171 on the gift card when you take the £29 and this worked, but its not something even customer services knew how to get around. So that's a tip for anyone reading this if your ever presented with evouchers, they dont recognise odd amounts and wont leave the change on them.
But I had to have them presented to me like that due to vouchershopexchange have stopped issuing gift cards during the coronavirus pandemic.0
