Credit Card applications on pause?

Just as it was all starting to kick off I applied online for a Barclays credit card. But I made a mistake and entered weekly income instead of monthly so it came up as declined. I called them to tell this but they said some team is looking into it so they can't do anything I just have to wait. A few days later I got a letter stating it was declined. I tried calling them again a few times since but I just get an automated message saying "something's come up and they had to leave". So I tried applying online for a Sainsburys credit card. They said 95% chance of approval but when I submitted and the application counter started it came up with an error message right at the end.
Is there any point in trying again? I am worried I'll get lots of credit score checks and no credit card.

Try again, then leave it a few weeks if declined or unsuccessful.

The decline letter you received would have been automatically sent out from your initial applicatiom that was declined.

Your application could still be under review by the "some team'?

Teams will be struggling to keep up. Due to increase is applications & also lack of staff.
