Stumbled on to this site (don't know how!) early this year. Didn't have a clue about APR rates but noticed they were not much more than 17.9% It seemed Barclaycard was charging me 29.9% I thought I must not have understood & I did nothing about it because I didn't have the confidence to challenge the bank. I kept reading Martin's credit card articles though & realised that I had got it right after all. It seemed so outrageous that I could be charged that amount.
I tried Martin's advice to ask for a lower rate and they said no even when I said I would change to another creditor. So I transferred the balance to Virgin for 0% for 15 months-it was so easy I could kick myself for not doing it a year earlier.
I also kept the card as advised for emergencies never thinking I'd use it again. Imagine my delight when I received a letter from Barclaycard offering me 1% cashback until 12 jan 2008 because they noticed I hadn't spent on it for some time! Started spending already but I'll stop on the 12th.
:money:Thanks Martin
