Will banks increase cheque pay in amount?

My Father has received an insurance cheque for £2,500 however Halifax only allow cheques up to £500 to be paid in online. Has anyone heard if banks will be increasing the allowed amount as people cannot get to the branches/or they are closed?     Parents over 80 years old so am self isolating with them and not going out.     Discovered its hopeless trying to contact Halifax!

Why not put in in the post with a paying in slip to his branch ?

As the cheque is valid for 6 months there is no great rush is there? -- if any of the above is not viable?

If you are going to put in post to bank, please ensure that you copy the check (front and back) - your phone camera should be fine to do this.

Thank you for replies. My Father has already paid the builders invoice from his bank account so putting this money back into his account is necessary.  Halifax branch is a bus journey away.  To send through post I would have to go to the post office, I also would have to get a special paying in slip from Halifax and special posting envelope from Halifax/Post Office.  I am self isolating with parents as they are mid 80's and am not going out at all.  Was hoping to hear banks were planning to increase amount allowed to be paid in to save people having to visit  branches or post offices.  Why on earth Admiral are sending out cheques in this day and age is beyond me.

Has your father not got any Halifax paying in slips, either a separate book, or alternatively a few at the back of a cheque book ? Does he bank on line - he could order a paying in book. 
Then on your daily exervcise use a post box - it may be at this time that your postie will collect from you (as in NI)

Does the Post Office accept deposits for the Halifax?

If so, try paying it in there.

Another line to try is phone up Admiral and explain that as he has to stay indoors for the forseeable future, can they cancel the cheque and instead do a direct transfer to his account - you never know, they might agree especially when you point out that it would be cheaper for them to do this.

Lloyds have increased the limit for paying cheques in. This message is showing in my app this morning:

you dont need a paying in slip simply post the cheque to any halifax branch with a covering letter.

If doing so, remember to put your fathers sort code and account number along with his name how it is printed on his account.
