Greater Anglia Annual Gold Card

Hello.
My husband purchased an Annual Gold Card from Greater Anglia (commutes to London from Essex) in May last year; you pay for 10 months but the ticket is valid for 12. They say he's not entitled to a refund as he's now in the '2 months free' travel period. I can understand this. However, as he's unable to benefit from this 'free' period due to the current restrictions, I feel his ticket should be extended when he does return.
Anyone have any advice on this?

Is Greater Anglia still running services? If so, they might reasonably say that the trains are available to use. In that case I think you'll find it difficult to argue your case.
I think this is one of those unfortunate situations you just have to chalk up to unlucky timing. It would be interesting to find out how they're dealing with people whose 10 months began at a different point in the year. Will they get a 10% refund for each month missed, a 8.3% refund or nothing at all?1 -
Yes, they're running a reduced service.
I believe GA are refunding the value of the unused portion to those who have purchased at other points in the year and cancelled their ticket entirely.0 -
What I have been told is if you claim a refund on an annual season ticket the refund is based on the buying the jourenys you have already used based on the cheapest tickets. So in your husbands case they would deduct the cost of 10 monthly tickets from the cost of his annual ticket and that is the refund amont which in your case is zero. Obviously if he was only 6 months into the ticket he would cost minus 6 monthly tickets.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

See this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6113255/coronavirus-work-from-home-wfh-and-rail-annual-season-tickets/p1If you do a changeover rather than a refund he will get some money back, not sure how you will do this now as they are no longer dealing with things like this at the ticket offices.
