Car insurance renawal prices

My car insurance is due for renewal 21/4/2020 but is £1200. Quotes for 6/4/2020 are £700, all details are the same.

What advice would you offer? Am I able to make them overlap? Should I cancel and take out the new one? It’s with my existing company Admiral.

For £500 less I don’t understand it’s the same car!!!

Help please

Why are you getting quotes for 6th April if your current policy runs out on 21st?

I've found this year my Premiums have increased quite a lot even though nothing has changed same car, no accidents etc. Last year was £230, this year from £315 - £580. Trying to renew after quotes is hard after most companies ask you to use the internet now as there are no personal calls handled currently. I had a quote from Direct line and tried to use the reference number for the quote, got so far and then it timed out on me. Trying to go forward was then a waste of time as you can't contact them personally, managed to sort it with another company in the end.

Pretty normal practise. New customers get better deals.
But why a different date? You need to get the quote for the date the old policy ends.
Cancel old one and take out the new one will see you losing 1 years NCD.

I've been with Esure for a good few years but this year they have put my renewal up by nearly £200 even with 10 years no claims. And with the covid situation they didn't even want to entertain me about any possible loyalty discount when I contacted them on their live chat so screw them. Went to Swiftcover and got a quote for £200 less than Esure. Screw Esure.

I am with Esure.  My renewal offer from them was less than last years premium for me and was better than any other quote I could get.  I let the auto renew do its thing.  Sometimes the renewal offers are good.
