Royal Mail Medium Parcel

I havent seen this on here so my apologies if I am preaching t the converted but RM have brought in  a new category of medium 2nd class parcels weighing between 2 and 5kg for £8.99. A great improvement on the £13 odd for parcel force. This is for personal customers not sure about business rates.

It is on their on line price leaflet and I got it on Tuesday (I think ) for one of my parcels. They seem to be keeping it ver y quiet but I have an excellent PO who are really on the ball.

I normally send all my parcels through interparcel and drop and go at the post office as I've had to many arranged collections that haven't always been picked up on the day. It's cheaper aswell and piece of mind that I've actually got it to the post office to be collected. When sending 24 hour delivery through interparcel the price is roughly £11 and cheaper for 48 hour delivery. So is the price you mention something new in all post offices now?

Yes it changed this week. This is a copy  and paste from their price list Still pricey for 1st class but now much better for 2nd class.
Max Weight 1st Class 2nd Class

    Medium parcel

    61cm long
    46cm wide
    46cm thick

    1kg £5.90 £5.20
    2kg £9.02 £5.20
    5kg £15.85 £8.99
    10kg £21.90 £20.25
    20kg £33.40 £28.55

  • Sorry for a further question but my parcels are normally small parcel and weight anywhere from 3kg to 8kg. Is there any price difference for small parcel or does this only apply to medium?

Small parcels only go up to 2kg, so anything above that regardless of small dimensions would be a medium parcel https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/89/~/size-and-weight-guide-–-uk-letters-and-parcels

A "small parcel" cannot be over 2Kg so anything of small parcel size over 2Kg will be a medium parcel.
