yes, my wife is at home but I have no-where else to go, my parents are in their 80s and are self isolating and also with my daughter been given less than 12 months I will not be distancing myself from her.0

No, you need to stay with her, definitely.bigmatt68 said:yes, my wife is at home but I have no-where else to go, my parents are in their 80s and are self isolating and also with my daughter been given less than 12 months I will not be distancing myself from her.Get your GP to sign you off with stress for 12 weeks and get your SSP Nobody can deny you must be under enormous stress so it’s entirely truthful.1 -
You shouldn't be entitled to SSP I'm afraid. There are guidelines on the gov site on living with somebody who is shielding.
I am in that category and my wife is still working.
The advice is at
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19
I would not be surprised if your employer still refuses to give you SSP if they are aware of the rules, or is the GP going to lie on the fit note?

why would the GP be lying? you cannot believe the stress I have been going through since my daughter going through a life saving operation, to then find out a few weeks later that the cancer had spread to her lungs, being given less than 12 months then my wife losing her job. The only reason I have been going to work is to have some money coming in, believe you me I would rather be at home with my daughter.
At 51 this is the first time I have ever claimed for anything in my life and I haven't got a clue what to do, they certainly don't make it easy to claim anything, hence me coming on here to see if anyone could help.0 -
I assume that both you and your wife are applying the additional shielding advice given in
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19
They do work and can be applied in a standard house, you don't have to move out. You just have to work out how to do it.
