Taxi Driver - Universal Credit / Grant
MBLUE2020
Hi all sorry if this has already been covered. I'm a self employed taxi driver who has had to give up work due to living with a relative who is in the very high risk category and age group. I simply cannot afford to pass this dreaded disease on. As such about a week ago I applied and was granted universale credit , no determination as yet on how much I will be receiving. Have I done the right thing and will I still be entitled to the 80% grant as announced yesterday ?
Thank you all.
Thank you all.

Who can apply
You can apply if you’re a self-employed individual or a member of a partnership and you:
- have submitted your Income Tax Self Assessment tax return for the tax year 2018-19
- traded in the tax year 2019-20
- are trading when you apply, or would be except for COVID-19
- intend to continue to trade in the tax year 2020-21
- have lost trading/partnership trading profits due to COVID-19

Thanks Jeremy then yes as I would 100% still be trading if it wasn't for covid-19.0

My hubby is self employed taxie driver he is still working but taken huge cut in his pay . I'm at home full time carer for disabled daugher. We receive universal credit already. Will we receive this self employment grant .0

If he was self employed before 6 April 2019, he may well qualify. HMRC will contact him but nothing will be paid until June.0
