changing suppliers

Options
Have changed supplier a few times and each time despite giving annual figures have still found figures don't add up. Initial offer is always wrong and have had to pay extra when  switching. Some suppliers seem to operate like a prepaid meter where you pay upfront then pay for the extra. When getting a quote work it out yourselves, it takes time especially if you have a high/low meter.

Initial offers are only based on the information you give the comparison sites.  If you tell them you only use, say, 8k of gas in a year and you actually use 10k, the quoted figure will always be wrong.

Now that being said, the figures are only ever estimates.  It only takes one cold winter where temperatures struggle to get over freezing for days on end and you will use far more gas and electricity than you were expecting so your next bill will be higher.  This is not something a comparison site can ever factor in.  You always need to take the figures with a pinch of salt, not as gospel.

Have you ever found that on a fixed rate tariff you were sold any kWh at more than the agreed rate, or that the daily standing charge increased?  If not, you can't complain.

Simple its the comparison rules .
Never have my prices been wrong in ten plus switches .
However that is the price per unit and standing charge , same on day one and day 365 .
Basic failure to understand comparisons is the problem .
My current swap due 1/4/20   actual price difference i will save sub £40 pa as gas price has dropped .
Comparison sites all say i will save about £200 . BUT and its a big but that's based upon me moving to an expensive standard rate with current supplier .
