Have a look at the Raspberry Oat Slices recipe on Allrecipes.co.uk  site if you have some jam.
It doesn’t have to be raspberry!

Doesn't even have to be jam - if you have rhubarb in the garden, frozen berries in the freezer or even something going soft in the fruit bowl, stew them to a compote (as long as it's not too runny) - cool and drain off the juice

You want to get hold of the vegetarian student nosh cookbook, costs a few quid on eBay.

Add your meat and get quite good meals, potentially freezing a portion for another day.

Made with everyday items from the kitchen, measurements are by cup rather than scales.

It has starters, mains, puddings and I can highly recommend a lot of the recipes.

@supersaver1000 I picked up plastic ones from a pound shop, I'm sure supermarkets have cheaper ones too.

When I was first married and couldn’t even afford kitchen scales, I used one of these to measure ingredients.  Brilliant and surprisingly accurate.

Thanks @MovingForwards I will have a look out for some.  I love a bargain and I'm always coming across recipes that call for cups.  I bought my food steamer for £5 from somewhere like Studio quite a few years ago.  Its not the best looking and the plastic is a bit flimsier than the more expensive ones but it does the job and has been fantastic value for money. :)

I've got stainless steel spoon and cup measures.  I prefer them to plastic because the plastic ones don't seem to last very long and get stained measuring things like turmeric!  Can't remember where I got them but they weren't very expensive and I've had them for several years now and still look like new.  The cup measures are a set of 4 from 1/4 cup up to 1 cup.
