Can I claim UC if I live with parents?

Hi. My son is 33 and still lives at home. He started self-employment this year and now has no work due to coronavirus restrictions. He's  not eligible for the government grant as he has less than 12 months self-employment. Can he claim UC and would my income/savings be taken into account? (After 2  days he managed to get on the UC website but it froze and threw him off He doesn't want to waste more time if he's not eligible. ) I have  a state pension, work pension and savings over £20,000. I have a partner in work who earns £500/week.  Many thanks.

Others can hopefully advise on whether he can claim UC while being self-employed (though I guess the answer would be "yes") but regardless your income and savings would not have any affect on his claim as he is classed as a single person and it will be only his income and savings that are taken into account.

Providing he doesn't have savings of more than £16,000 then yes he can claim UC. If he has savings of more than £6,000 then his UC will be reduced.

He won't be entitled to any housing costs but will be entitled to any other relevant elements.
