Solicitor holding me to ransom

I’m sorry if I’ve angered you this was not my intention. There are other reasons beyond the fact of me handing in my notice on why I need to move but did not want to discuss this on an open forum but my solicitor were very aware off. Again I apologise, I also apologise for my naivety I’m not 100% sure on the whole process but she has not been forthcoming with information and we were due to complete originally on January 31st.Tiglet2 said:
How could a simultaneous exchange and completion take place on Tuesday if there were outstanding matters? You confirm above that they hadn't sent off forms/new build supplement etc, therefore the transaction wasn't ready.Helptobuypurchase said:
Yes, they have said not to agree to the fee. Which I won’t but I am frustrated that they have been promising to give me my deposit back and send my files over since Tuesday. Then today receive an email saying actually they won’t release anything until I pay them. They are trying to charge me for mortgage, help to buy even though they haven’t sent of the forms, new build supplement etc.. when they have not completed in any, how can they justify that.greatcrested said:Have you asked the new solicitor for their legal opinion on this....?
Because you gave notice to your landlord prematurely, you are now expecting all third parties involved to treat your case as a priority above all others and not adhere to the government's advice that if you've not exchanged, to delay the process until the stay-at-home and social distancing guidelines are lifted. If she was not ready to exchange why did she ask for my deposit? No one knows and I won’t receive the answer due to a relationship breakdown. The government guidelines also states you can move into a home that is unoccupied, as it is a new build there is no chance of contamination, we were also self-moving due to having our own van therefore adhering to social distancing.0 -
Just received an email from my old solicitor stating that they have received new guidance in relation to new builds so they can now proceed with my purchase.3
