Should I pay the rest of Deposit

We booked holiday back in February and took advantage of minimum deposit and paid £150. The rest of the deposit (£650) is now due (End of next week). I contacted First Choice branch (booked through shop) beginning of last week to find out what our options are as we had not taken out any insurance and therefore accepted that we would likely loose £150 paid if we did not proceed. I was advised that if I didn't pay the remainder of the deposit (£650) that this could affect our credit rating. Does anyone know if this is true?
We were advised that once remainder of deposit was paid, no further payments were due until May and if we were unable to go in July we had the option to change travel dates up to Oct21. Due to our circumstances this may not be an option.
Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes it is true. You agreed to the Low Deposit Scheme, unless you pay them the rest of the deposit they can quite happily persue you and you will end up with a CCJ.
Oh and it is "lose", not "loose". For some reason millions of people in this country cannot tell the difference between those two words.0
