Are there restrictions on importing masks at the moment?

Assuming you can get any delivered remember that if you import goods that are over £15 then there may be import tax and duty as well as handling charges.

I think screw fix may have them.
  • Screw fix do but only selling max 3 to a customer as far as I'm aware and they are not the valved FFP2 mask I'm looking for.
  • I think it’s fair to say if you have bought like this in the past you can prove it would be for personal use,
P2/P3 masks are useless concerning the virus
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

How do you know that the masks meet the standard? I'm not saying that China is famed for fake and sub-standard items, but they are. Is your health worth so little?

If I was buying masks strictly for using against the current Virus I certainly wouldn't be wanting paper dust masks but for the purpose of working in a dusty environment and no other toxic or hazardous material then any valved dust mask is suitable. To be honest it doesn't really even need to be valved, but I've always preffered this style. Nearly all paper face masks are manufactured in China and the majority of fakes I've ever come across are rip off 3M masks.

I would take the risk as you're not talking a large amount of money presumably.  Even if they are substandard any paper mask is going to provide some barrier to dust and is going to be better than nothing.  Could you use masks for longer than you normally do to eke them out?

if they are the valved dust mask with the plastic centre then normally i can get longer out of these. I'm currently having to re-use ones that I purchased a fair time ago. Normally these masks are considered to be used no more than 10 times depending on what you work with but if general dust then one can use for longer.

If they are solely for yourself and not being used for COVID-19 protection then I don't see why not but be aware that there are masks currently being sold that do not meet the standard and have false certification. If your consignment is found to be like that them it will be seized by Customs.
