Furlough questions

My brother and his staff have been put on Furlough. Will they get paid 80% of gross salary? What about company car tax refund as they cannot use car? Also can they be made redundant during furlough?

The job retention scheme refunds employers 80% of the furloughed employee's wage. It is for the employer to pass that on, and top it up if they choose to do so. Under PAYE if the company car was coded out and it is no longer provided there will be an adjustment to tax deducted.

The Job Retention Scheme is being set up to prevent redundancy. Employers who take part are expected to undertake not to make those staff redundant who are furloughed.
