Ireland have a Copid 19 pandemic unemployment payment €350 euros per week will UK do this

My company has gone into administration as of yesterday due to the Coronavirus situation. The government have help for employees furloughed and today will announce help for self employed but what about those who have still been made redundant despite all this help. Will they introduce the same payment as Ireland which is fantastic?

I don't think it's likely - I imagine any further support would come in the form of making Universal Credit more generous, but I've yet to see signs that, over and above what has been announced, that they're minded to go further. The calls to do so are coming from all quarters, including Conservatives, but whether those are likely to be heeded remains to be seen.
I really hope that the Government thinks again about the Furlough scheme and goes for temporary Universal Basic Income instead (in the knowledge that this will involve tax rises on the back end to assist in paying for it), but the truth is I don't think they will. Furlough has a role to play - if you get it, you know you're walking back into a job - but this forum is sadly swamped with people who seem to be caught within its caveats, and I don't think they're outliers.

Depending on the length of your employment you may be entitled to a redundancy payment.
    Claim Universal Credit https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/
There are online calculators to help you assess entitlement  https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

At this moment in time I’d take the universal basic income! Just need some form of aid

I think its about £94 a week in the UK for those that qualify.

People may also qualify for other benefits. I don't think there is any intention to change the existing benefits system for the unemployed - the government have more than enough on their hands at present to protect those in employment, and all the other issues related to the current crisis.

And parliament closed yesterday for a month (at least), so no new legislation can be passed until they return.

That’s simply not good enough....not every company can just furlough staff as my company has shown.....yet there’s no help offered at all to people like me.

One of the pieces of legislation that went through (the Contingencies Fund Act) does give the Government a huge amount of latitude over the amount they can spend over-budget. Now, I am not trying to generate false expectations, or hope, but the fact that Parliament is not sitting does not mean that no further help can be provided.

The Government has always had support in place for those made redundant - why should they change it now?
