Mortgage provider advised cancelling direct debit

Against martins advice ive e mailed my mortgage provider for the second time as i had no response from last weekend. This time i got an instant 'out of office' telling me with the high volume of payment holidays to cancel my direct debit and they will respond in due course. Obviously im worried about my credit rating and martin said DO NOT DO THIS. As the lender has said to do this do you think im safe to do so?

    It depends on your circumstances

I think they are saying to cancel, so your not penniless when the payment comes out. It maybe that they are concerned about the difficulty in cancelling all the direct debit collections they needs, and the work caused by needing to transfer payments back

your credit history can always be put right, given the advice they’re giving out I doubt they will want to mark late payments due to it

What I’m saying is if you can afford the repayment then let it happen , if you can’t or your not sure you can afford it then cancel it

I can’t see there being anything stopping you from making this repayment and then starting a mortgage holiday
