Apportioning hotel costs

Hi all
Apologies if this is a stupid question - surprisingly couldn't find the answer anywhere and never claimed off travel insurance before. How does it work if I was going on a trip with my wife and we each paid for different hotels etc. and have our own individual travel insurance policies? Could I claim for the entire cost of any hotel room in my name, or would everything be apportioned between the two of us for claims purposes?
Thanks!

You can only claim your actual losses, so two bookings made separately would be claimed against the two policies0
