Morning all.
Sorry Gers, but we have bright sunshine today as well. I think things are due to change tomorrow and we will be back to winter. Then I will be beating myself up for not doing what most of you are doing and sprucing up house and garden. Those of you who are wandering about aimlessly, not being able to settle to anything and not getting anything done are my sisters. We understand each other.
Yesterday I did manage to make some leek and potato soup, there is plenty left for a couple more days. I also rummaged through the freezer and unearthed a bag of leftover bits of chicken and ham, so today will be chicken and ham pie, if I can stir myself to make some pastry.
However, morning school comes first, so must prepare for DGD bobbing around In front of her screen unable to comprehend that frantically waving her work about doesn't give me much chance to see what she has done. Apparently she loved yesterday's session and talked about it for the rest of the day. I was incapable of speech!
Keep safe lovely people.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
My doctor told me to start killing people.
Well, not in those exact words.
He said I had to reduce the stress in my life.
Same thing really.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.16 -
Thanks Gers I thought it was rather harsh especially on those who are like us and under 70 and have an elderly rellie who relies on the phone to contact us. ( he won't call us on the mobile 'cos he thinks it costs too much ! )nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Morning all
Bright and sunny day here I have a wash on the go and will hang it out today.
OH walked off site yesterday morningthere was no hand washing facilities and no one was observing the 2 meter rule, also one of his work mates kept using what I think is called a dockers hankie
which is where he blows his nose into his hand then wipes it on his jeans !! He then kept coming over to use OH's tools !! OH packed up and came home, he has taken this week off and we will see about next week, he said he is terrified of putting me and his parents at risk, tbh I dont blame him at all its better to be safe.
Onto today I shall clean the cabinet in the lounge as I never got round to it yesterday and possibly sort the bookcase out, and . take the pups out for a nice long walk. Quiche for dinner tonight with a jacket spud maybe and salad.
Nels I so wished I lived nearer I would go out and try and get you some shopping (or I would send OH)
Bella please give your dd my love and thanks for the fantastic work she is doing xx
Stay safe folks xx16 -
Redruby, I don't blame him, how awful. I hope you both stay well.
TA, that's what Steve and I did on Sunday - went through the gate into Chris and Crystal's garden and sat 5yards away from them. They said it felt really odd not to be able to offer us a drink and when we arrived Crystal forgot and came rushing towards us until I held up my hand in the best police approved manner.
We had a shock last night. We heard a big bang as if there was a car hitting a wall or something. When we investigated we found that one of the panels on the shower in the en-suite had exploded, scattering toughened glass bits all over. Luckily we have another shower because we won't be able to get it fixed until the end of the present unpleasantness.
My hayfever is worse again and it's difficult not to panic and think "Is this it" even though logically I know it's not. We bought a super duper thermometer last year when Steve was so ill (similar ones are selling on sites for hundreds of pounds now) so we have been taking our temps every day and I was normal this morning so I need to stop fretting.15 -
nanny without a phone my mum would be lost and at that point she would have to move in here so for sanity I am hoping against hope none of her services go down. It does make you realise the precious nature of the the things we all normally take for granted.
Rubes I am so relieved that he has done that his employer should be protecting their workers now. At least your crew are all safe and together now xx16 -

Morning all,TA clever thing & pretty Sparkle !Dumpling, good news yay !Ruby, ugh, mucky beggar - never heard that expression before.Good for OH. Just read that 2 big firms are shutting their sites this week.DH power washed the back yesterday and we had a good tidy round, but still need to empty the garden bench. Still lovely here.Funnily enough my ironing didnt get done
I've just been watching DGD skipping in the garden via Facey ,miss 'em, thank goodness for technology!
Quite a lot of substitutions in my shop that came earlier, but some things they didnt have last week were in stock today.Loved the mask photos- I was watching on FB yesterday a clip of a woman demonstrating how to use a thong as a mask, quite funny when the camera switched to her mother who had a pair of baggy knickers over her headLook after yourselves and loved ones as best you can in these strange times, and hugs to those living alone, always someone to chat on here xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Cleaner is busy up a ladder - I did offer to stand with her but she wasn't interested. She'll move onto the bottom bits soon, she's willing to do anything. Her day job is on hold though she's lucky enough to be getting paid still. With her motivation I moved all the paintings which are cluttering up one wall in the bedroom, that gave me space to change my bed linen. I felt like a teenager lying in three week old used bedding.Just when the time is ripe to do a massively serious declutter it's impossible - CS closed and recycling centres (tips) also closed so nowhere to take anything. I have a large pile of papers which need shredding, now that I can access the shredder there's no point as I don't want to clutter up the blue bins for collection with it all. Hey ho - perhaps I just need to sit and read?13

Hi everyone
Its foggy and dull here...I'm hoping it brightens up as I washed the sofa covers and they're out on the line.
Mam and dad's 60th anniversary today....disappointing as we'd planned a lovely day. Instead my dad was at the bottom of the garage, I was at the top and mam was in the doorway! Mam was pleased with her card from the Queen,
Grand daughter's consultant wants her to have an operation where her upper and lower stomach will be tied together and then she will be tube fed into her stomach, rather than through her nose into her bowel. She can't come home till she has this, but the problem is finding an anaesthetist to do this, as they're all busy with coronavirus patients. Hopefully it won't be too long.
The tractors are busy in the field next to my house...nice that some things go on as normal....
Take care everyone
