Estate Agents - Corona Virus

Looking on Rightmove, there are still new properties getting listed. So are estate agents still operating? Are they exempt or are they just ignoring the advice?

Editing photos etc and updating Rightmove can be done from home, doesn't necessarily mean they're breaching any guidelines.

Our local estate agents are simply working from home, in contact with people via phone/email and listing from pictures they've already got of homes. Every EA here offices are closed as per guidelines, they aren't essential.

Same situation with us. We are looking to rent out a property and will be supplying the photos and details for them to publish on Rightmove. We've also agreed to do any viewings but the particular circumstances make this a viable option in this instance.

Estate Agents staff (like many other businesses) will be working from home, and doing whatever work they can that way. I guess the work they can do is limited, but it's probably better than just sitting around and doing nothing.

Perhaps the properties you're seeing listed were visited around a week ago, and the EAs have been writing up the details, and getting approval from sellers.

FWIW, EAs are telling me that their negotiators are available by phone and email - and one has even said they will do remote valuations digitally for selling. (I guess you take the EA on a virtual tour of the property using Facetime, whatsapp video etc.)

Having said that, they've stopped doing physical viewings, so I doubt they'll be many offers made.
