  • Cheers , all I remember is that my mother had savings from previous house sale as she had downsized and had savings, enough to cover the £5000 loan at any time. I also just realised that my mother had severe depression at times, being on medication etc and I am not sure if the PPI would have been effective any way .

all I remember is that my mother had savings from previous house sale as she had downsized and had savings, enough to cover the £5000 loan at any time.

But did she have enough savings for around 12 months expenditure?

Also, a  lot of people take out insurance as they do not want to risk their savings if something goes wrong in life.   That £5,000 savings being used on the loan could leave little or nothing for living.

I also just realised that my mother had severe depression at times, being on medication etc and I am not sure if the PPI would have been effective any way .

Why was that not raised as a complaint reason?

Is this medically provable?  i.e. did she go to the GP and get help (and therefore be on her records)?    That is a valid complaint reason but this should have been mentioned at the start. Not after the decision was made.   However, the firm should now take this new information into account.

    Hi

It was so long ago and the phone call re the PPI took me a bit by surprise with all the questions etc.

I have the full doctors records for my mother and she was treated for, and hospitalised for depression etc before the loan was taken out

Was she still being treated for depression at the time she actually applied for the loan?
