Hello there,
I'm looking for some advice on whether or not I am eligible for support during this crisis. I was working on board the Diamond Princess in Japan and due to the ongoing situation, my contract was cancelled 3 months early. As I live with an 'At risk' person, I cannot get a job in a supermarket without possibly exposing them. I have applied to UC but haven't heard anything back yet as yet.

UC is the correct benefit. Understandably claims are taking time to process. According to one report half a million claims over 9 days. Your first payment will normally be 5 weeks after you submit the claim. Keep an eye on your UC journal.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
