Messenger/Video Chat app for kids

Hi all,

With schools shut down and the country in lockdown, it is a tough time for kids socially, and I'm looking for a way that my daughter can stay in touch with her friends during the day.

I'm struggling to find anything that I consider either safe, or available in the UK that my daughter and her friends could use.

Was looking at GeckoLife (https://www.commonsensemedia.org/app-reviews/geckolife), but would appreciate any other safe suggestions.

Thank you - K.

Looked at that, but it says that it is blocked in UK?

A five year old within the family calls me regularly using Google Duo and Viber (Randomly, depending on his mood I guess. :D).
He doesn't have any problems, both are secure and easy to use.

Appreciate your inputs - stalling point on a few of them is a lack of sim card or mobile number. Will see if there's a way around them, thanks again.

You don't need a phone for Google Duo....You can just use it on your PC signed in with a google account.

    What about Skype?

  • I think children should not use the phone too soon because it will be very harmful to the eyes.
