Self-Employed and Employed - Benefit entitlements ?

I am a self-employed beauty therapist at a Health Centre which of course is now closed for foreseeable future. I also work approx. 20 hours a week as a permanent shop assistant in a large retail store which remains open.

My question is, am I entitled to anything for our loss of earning from my self-employed job which brings in about 2/3 of my weekly income. Can I get any universal credits even though I have a second part-time (but permanent) job.  Cannot find any guidance for this dual employment situation.

Use a benefits calculator. Whether you will get any UC will depend on your circumstances and the income you still receive.
https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators (Note - these calculators don't include the extra £20/week being introduced from April.)

  • Self employed and accountant declaring minimum for tax payments. Enjoyed keeping cash and not paying full tax for years like most on self employed. Now have to survive on what ever no one to blame but self. Keeping all the cash and not paying what one should can't complain?
  • call natwest today for delaying my personal loan, they said it will effect my credit file !! how come in these unforeseen circumstances they will effect our credit score?

Not sure how what you are saying relates to op?
I'm interested in this also as my partner is self employed sole trader, but works 20 hrs part time to top money up.
Earned nothing in nearly 6 weeks partially due to storms, then Corona took over.

The Chancellor is likely to announce help for the self employed later this week. Calcotti has answered the UC point.

Entitled to state they are including the new allowance now, not sure about the other calculators though.

Hadn't spotted that - thanks. The new rates come in on 6th April so apply to 2020/21 calculations. I don't think the extra money will not appear in any payments until May (because of the the way monthly assessment periods work in UC) - will have to see what the enabling regulation says when it is published.
