Carpetright wants 20% cancellation fee on a store order

    DoaM made an important point that you haven't addressed.  If the contract was formed on the basis of next day fitting, they would appear to have broken that contract so you may have cause to cancel without penalty.  However, their argument would be that circumstances beyond their control have delayed fitting.

    Personally, assuming you still need the carpet, I would sit the virus measures out and get the carpet fitted when restrictions are eased.  That would be preferable to trying to combat a 20% cancellation fee, which presumably you can't do at the moment anyway because they're closed.  

    To answer your final question: No, you don't have the right to change your mind because you made the purchase in store.
