Refusal of Furlough Work

Hi, I am just after some clarity on my situation if anyone knows more about this. I have been told I am on the extremely high risk list and told to isolate for 12 weeks. I contacted my place of work and told them about this and was then told I would have to use my sick entitlement and then move onto SSP. After asking to be furloughed they’ve said since I haven’t been laid off or made redundant I will remain on sick leave. I understand these are confusing times for all but I am worried about the financial implications this will have on myself and my family and many others out there.

Many thanks

That sounds correct(what your employer is saying), you are off sick(well off for medical reasons), not at risk of being made redundant due to a downturn caused by covid (which AFAIK is the purpose of the 80% grants).

That I correct the furlough is for employees that are at risk of losing their jobs so companies can keep them on and hope times get better. Not to replace sick pay.

In agreement with others that have already answered - the advice (as per date of this post) is you can really only claim SSP just now.
Things change daily so please keep watching. I understand that getting stuck at home and on mere SSP seems like a distressing thought.

I appeal to companies that are able (and employees that are able) that additional funds should be made to help cover the gap for employees forced on to SSP.
