Are you currently employed ? Or are you taking on temp nobs on an adhoc basis

If you are currently employed him need to speak with your employer. At the moment AFAIK Igs up to your employer wether ghey forlough you or not(to get 80% wages grant). It's not clear at the moment exactly bow that would be calculated either, you might be lucky if they look at last months apy and you were working, or unlucky if they look at last months and you werent

If your not currently employed AFAIK you would need to claim universal credit
  • Hi,
Hard times for sure. I know several people that work offshore around the world and it used to be known as the wild west for good reason! One thing I do hear a lot is how appreciated you guys n gals are out there, the offshore worlds version of a 'Key Worker'. From what I've heard, it's a thankless role but absolutely vital.
To answer your question, I suppose it depends on your working status. Are you on a staff contract with basic wage then topped up with your ad-hoc work or are you limited and therefore self employed? If it is the former and you get a basic wage (like a retainer contract), then you should have an avenue to follow, which others may be able to advise. The latter and you will have to wait to see what the Gov do relating to self employed I'm afraid.
Sorry I can't help with more details but there are dedicated unions for offshore workers and you could email them (I wouldn't call, unless you have several spare hours!)
  • I have a contract with the company but only on an ad-hoc basis. Not on core crew only as and when they give you work. States in contract they dont need to give work. No retainer to stay with company and not self employed. One liner back from company to contact HRMC.
