Finding a job

Hi,my employer has decided to close while all this is going on so I will be on the %80 of my wages.
I have just been offered a job in Tesco replenishing shelves but someone warned me I could lose my original wage, can I keep myself busy and earn a second wage or not?

Has your employer told you atet they will be paying you 80% of wage or are you assuming that. Employers are not required to do this.
The question about second jobs and furloughed employees has been asked and answered hundreds of times on this forum already. Based on the very limited information currently available a furloughed employee cannot do any work for that employer but there is nothing o stop them having a second job. However full details of the scheme have not yet been made available and when they are there might be something in the deaths about this.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Find out now from your employer if they are applying for the job retention scheme, and if they are thinking of putting you on it.
If they are, ask your employer whether your contract of employment with them would permit you to work for Tesco in the meantime. The doubt over whether another job could affect income for furloughed workers in the job retention scheme comes from a question in the House put to Matt Hancock, who said he thought there might be an issue but he would ask the Treasury. We don't know the result of that.
If I were you I would find out asap if you are going to be furloughed. If I was keeping my job and getting paid 80% for doing nothing, I would leave shelf stacking at Tesco to people who really need the income.
