"I am in no doubt that our Government did not begin this week intending to cover the cost of all parking charges for NHS staff. "

as with every thing the gov has said over the last few weeks ........

are the Gov going to pay the scammers .... or stop the scam ?

I read this as individual Trusts won't be taking the monthly parking permit fee from their staff now. Presumably permits will still need to be displayed but if it slips off the dashboard or when the staff car park is full and staff then park in the patients' parking area, along comes a parking weasel and slaps a ticket on the windscreen. And how is a PE camera going to differentiate between a nurse's/doctor's car, out of necessity parking in the patient area for 10+ hours and that of a patient?

I'm almost wishing for one of the idiotic PPCs to go on a hospital staff ticketing spree, then watch the proverbial hit the fan. I don't think Piers Morgan's wallet is yet safe!

Be best to put ANPR into self isolation and those dumbo wardens should be at home anyway as parking firms are not an essential industry.    Might well prove to government and the NHS that the cowboys are not actually wanted

Piers Morgan needs to be made aware of some examples of the PPCs practice, and how their rip-off systems work, and the referrals on to debt collection scammers etc. He'd go on proper rant for days if not weeks. Cause the PPCs huge damage and shame the Government.

I just watched it and Jenrick may have well just pre recorded the A4 sheet he was almost reading from , he avoided the questions by going back to prepared mantras , he didn't say he would talk to his counterpart in the Scottish government about NHS worker parking tickets in the Scottish city of Glasgow , he said he would talk to councils in England , who do not manage hospital and NHS car parks in England , never mind Scotland

He hasn't a clue regarding private parking tickets despite his department the Mhclg having the task of delivering the new parking CoP , even though his party passed it into law 12 months ago

Rishi Sunak has forgotten more about it than Jenrick will ever know !!

Bit in bold: that's probably why Jenrick got appointed: by the time he learns anything relevant, we'll be at the next cabinet reshuffle or general election.

Jenrick is our local MP and is not held in high regard by many around here. Just another posh Tory who was parachuted into the seat after our previous MP (Patrick Mercer) was caught out by a "cash for questions" TV sting and had to resign.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I must say that whenever I see Jenrick on TV he comes across as a robot and not suitable for a Boris way of life

Jenrick is on BBC1 Question Time at the moment. Oh dear!  Reshuffle beckons.
