Made Redundant. Can I be re-employed and Furloughed?

I have heard Martin say that I could be re-employed and that my Employer can Furlough me immediately and that the Governement advice supports this.I think Martin Lewis may be wrong in that assumption.
If you are In a situation where you need to furlough staff then you don't need to take additional staff on. Methinks that could well be fraud.

That was my initial reading of the situation. It doesn't soud right - but he did sound very ceratin. Its unfortunate because of the timing.

Check whether you are entitled to universal credit.1

My employer has just agreed to reinstate me on the advice of HMRC. I am entitled to Universal Credit, but want to keep my job. Either way the state is paying my wages. I'll take a chance and see what happens. I'm fortunate as I have some savings to fall back on if it all goes sideways. Thanks for your help guys.

I am sure the PM encouraged employers to re-hire staff they had made redundant in the face of the crisis, telling them they would be eligible for the 80% furlough payout, in one of his recent addresses. I have had a brief, unsuccessful look around for a report on this. The furlough system has yet to be implemented so that would explain your employers uncertainty. All the best!

06/03/2020- I left employer A after 2 years 4 months service.09/03/2020- I started with my new employer (employer
18/03/2020- I was made redundant owing to the coronavirus.31/03/2020- I am due to get my final salary payment from my first employer (A) and the first three weeks of my second employment (employer
. Am I entitled to the Furlough scheme? If so, which company applies on my behalf, A or B.The fact that I was not on employer B's payroll by 28th February seems to be a sticking point.

Possibly you can be rehired and furloughed check through the guidance...
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wage-costs-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-schemeFurloughed employees must have been on your PAYE payroll on 28 February 2020, and can be on any type of contract, including:
- full-time employees
- part-time employees
- employees on agency contracts
- employees on flexible or zero-hour contracts
The scheme also covers employees who were made redundant since 28 February 2020, if they are rehired by their employer.

You are not entitled to be furloughed as it stands.
The relevent part for you
Employees you can claim for
Furloughed employees must have been on your PAYE payroll on 28 February 2020, and can be on any type of contract, including:
full-time employees
part-time employees
employees on agency contracts
employees on flexible or zero-hour contracts
The scheme also covers employees who were made redundant since 28 February 2020, if they are rehired by their employer.
Since you were not made redundant by company A they can’t claim for you. Since you joined company B after the 28th Feb, they can't claim for you. The policy may change but that is at stands.
You could look to see what benefits you might be eligible for in the meantime.
