Stuck in a foreign country - implications for work

I’m currently stuck in Pakistan as my flight got cancelled by PIA. They’ve closed all flights till 4th April and will decide on that day whether to reopen the flights but I’m still not sure they will. My situation isn’t that bad here for me as I’ve got family here and can stay with them. But my question is about my work. I’m on holiday til 8th April so I’ll get paid until then. I’ve spoken to my workplace and they said I can use my new holidays as my holidays begin from April to March to cover the time I’m stuck in Pakistan. But what if I’m stuck here for the next 3 months, which is feasible as I’m still not sure if the airlines will open and there’s a chance the UK will close their borders. Because my flight got cancelled and it wasn’t my fault are my only options from work are to take more holiday or take unpaid leave?

That depends on your work. Many people in your situation might simply lose their job. Being allowed to use holiday first and then unpaid leave is quite decent of them.
I'd keep in touch with your manager / HR and ask for what help you can get. Your holiday will run out quite quickly and I'd think unpaid leave will be your only option.0 -
Have you enquired about an emergency repatriation flight? Some are being arrange from some countries like Peru.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

How about the overland option, now or later..?
Flights still seem to be operating from Kabul, Teheran, Turkey. I'm not sure about the land borders currently, it may be more difficult later...Evolution, not revolution0
